We ordered the maroon version of this suit, and my wife loves it, with one caveat. Please be aware that while the color descriptor says “Deep Maroon”, the picture that comes up is a brilliant candy apple red. She loved the brilliant red one in the photo, so she was very disappointed to find out that the suit really is a deep maroon. Pretty, but not what shows up in the picture when you’re selecting the color and size to order. It’s a shame, because I also ordered the Speedo red swim cap for her, which matches the picture, but not the actual suit.
I purchased this suit for my wife, for swimming laps at the YMCA. It looks fantastic. My wife is 5’4″, 110 pounds, and wears dress size 2 or 4. The Xtra Life Lycra size 32 [dress size 6] fits her very well. Remember, this is a competition swimming suit; the fit is very smooth and snug. For the casual swimmer, you will probably need to add two sizes up from your dress size.
This is the same model I’ve been wearing for a few years. It’s great to be able to get a suit that is a little longer in the torso than most, and the sizing and color are consistent from year to year. As with all lycra suits, it will eventually become transparent due to chlorine exposure, but in the meantime, I’ll have swum a lot of comfortable miles.
It was absolutely not the size I expected. I was not at all happy with that. I gave it to my family as an extra suit for their pool, for guests that arrive without a suit. It would not fit a size 26. Perhaps it will fit a 14-16 size. It was truly a misrepresentation of sizing… Size 26 people do swim and I do each and every day in the ocean. It would be nice if Speedo corrected this sizing problem
I recommend going up one jean size in this suit. I like the fit and it is modest enough for a plus size woman. The only thing I would’ve liked to have seen changed on this was an addition of a shelf bra. I read a review here that said the shelf bra was not needed–I disagree. Although I wouldn’t return this suit, I miss the shelf bra. I’m a 38 DD and it supports me enough to get by, but I would like extra support. Just my opinion.
