We happen to LOVE this coffee – used to use the Folgers Vanilla until they changed their formula to the Vanilla Biscoti (and it was dreadful). We will continue to use Dunkin Donut French Vanilla as long as they continue to make it (and we hope that is forever!)
I personally love Dunkin’ Donuts coffee more than any other brands (I’ve tried many). I purchased this for my office which has plenty of coffe-lovers so the quantity is perfect. It comes in a resealable bag so it’s great flavor is never lost.
I bought this coffee because I was out of my usual brand and had to buy some at a CVS on the way to work. I was sort of curious as I had always heard Dunkin Donuts had good coffee. I had never had it, but I was willing to give it a shot.
I knew I was going to have problems as soon as I opened the bag. My entire row at work turned around and asked what I had just opened and poured into the air tight coffee container I keep at my desk. This coffee reaked of overpowering fake French Vanilla stink. And it just kept going. I threw the bag into my garbage thinking the smell would dissipate, but a few minutes later I had to dig it out of the garbage and seal the bag to make the horror stop.
The fact that I was charged 8 dollars for this bag of coffee (when I pay 6 bucks for my usual coffee) was strike one. The olfactory assault that ensued when I opened it was strike two. The end came, however, when I brewed up a pot of this fail coffee.
I use a French press at work so that I can brew the coffee at my desk and keep a pot there ready for me. Now my understanding is that French press brewing tends to exaggerate the flavors in a coffee, causing a lot of subtly to be lost. For the sake of this coffee, I hope that is not the case.
I used four scoops for three cups, as I like my coffee on the strong side. What came out of this process could barely be called coffee. It was a pale brown color that caused one of my coworkers to ask if I was brewing tea in my French press now. Somehow despite the stench of the coffee grounds the actual brew had next to no flavor. It was a thin, weak flavored, watery mess.
I will close by discussing the ultimate fate of this coffee. I put it into a ZipLock bag to take home after work. When I got home, I placed the sealed Zip Lock bag of coffee on my kitchen counter and went to bed. When I woke up some eight hours later my admittedly small apartment smelled of the terrible French vanilla scent! The kitchen was the epicenter, but even the bathroom on the other side of the apartment smelled like gross fake French vanilla. I had to burn incense to chase away the stench.
I have trouble finding strong enough terms to fully express how much I do not reccomend this coffee. You can find a much better value in almost any other coffee.
I was so excited to get this coffee…grew up with dunkin donuts…however it’s waayyy watery than I ever remember. Practically had to use a quarter of a bag to get any good results. It smells really good, though!!
