The flavor isn’t as complex as others I’ve had, but it is pleasing and more than adequate. The color is a nice deep “matcha green”. The aroma and taste of the dry powder are good. It whisks into an even, fine foam. I recommend it.

I compared 4 different brands of matcha green teas. Here’s how they rate:

#1 DO 2nd Harvest, excellent flavor, texture, and color, expensive, organic

#2 Serendipi, great flavor, best price for the quality, organic

#3 The Tao of Tea, local Portland Oregon company, fair flavor, price slightly lower than DO, organic

#4 Maeda-en, available at Uwajimaya. Difficult to dissolve. Less favorable flavor and not organic

Uwajimaya has best selection of Matcha teas with several others I have not tried yet. Whole Foods carries both DO and Tao of Tea. New Seasons currently does not carry Matcha. Serendipi is available on Amazon for $17/4 oz. box, best tea for your money!

This was my first purchase of matcha green tea. I have always been a big green tea fan and I heard about the health benefits of matcha so I decided to try it. The benefits are definitely there, as you are ingesting the whole tea leaf.

This stuff is pretty cool, brightly colored green like nothing you have ever seen before. But, to be honest the taste is nothing special. Maybe I’m making it wrong but I don’t know where these other reviewers are coming from. I’ll keep trying different methods in an attempt to make this stuff taste better.

Regardless I can say this stuff is better than coffee for a boost in energy. And I love coffee. Does not have the negatives associated with coffee, such as jitters, or crashing, but instead you feel alert and attentive all day.

I had hartley green tea bags(sancha I think) and I liked the taste of that much better.

This tea yields a good tasting cup of green tea, IMO. I try to drink a few cups of green tea daily for its health benefits, and because the price of this product makes that an expensive undertaking, I don’t rely on this product exclusively. Nevertheless, I do like it and will continue to buy it, especially when it’s on sale!

  5. P. Erskine says:

There’s no question this product is very high quality, it’s just I prefer a smoother tasting, less tangy Matcha. It’s not for me, but you might enjoy it. I liked the DoMatcha 2nd Harvest Matcha Green Tea, 2.82-Ounce Tin better.
